Rhodes City
See all the beaches, live the nightlife and relax on the beach by Rhodes City.
Rhodes City contains an incredible amount of sites worth visiting. The very old town holds thousands of inhabitants in a medieval city where the Knights of St. John lived six centuries ago. The city is a very popular destination spot because of the amount of entertainment and historical value that it possesses.
The city is built around medieval structures. Don’t be confused, however. The medieval structures are still very much intact, and give the city a very unique past and present look. Many types of gothic churches, castles, walls, forts, and other ancient medieval items exist around a technologically advanced society. It is truly a remarkable experience to see modern roads and lights blended into a medieval setting.
Beaches of Rhodes City are vast- and cover a great deal of land. The western parts of the beach are plagued by high winds, which makes it great for windsurfing or similar water sports that require wind. The eastern part of the bridge is referred to as Elli Beach, and is sheltered from such winds. For this reason, the majority of swimmers and sun bathers go to the eastern part of the beach, while water sports enthusiasts visit the west side of the beach. This makes a unique division between the two- and relaxes parents who are afraid small children may get hurt by jet skis or other forms of water sports that take place in some swimming areas.
Outdoor cafes and restaurants populate Rhodes City, and busy street life is to be expected. During the day, the city is very much like any other noisy city- but at night things change to a more relaxing atmosphere. Night clubs and bars open up to tourists, and the city dies down to a more relaxing level as the sunlight fades. The change between a busy city and a care-free atmosphere make Rhodes City very unique indeed, and worth any vacationer’s attention.
The city boasts a harbor, and two squares. A multitude of hotels make sure visitors enjoy their stay- and the restaurants feature fresh seafood from the sea. These two experiences create a laid back atmosphere that lets even the most stressed vacationer relax indefinitely. The city is accustomed to regular travelers, so finding many entertainment opportunities or souvenirs will take no time at all. In fact, it can often be hard to find reservations in the city if certain holiday seasons arise. This often leads many to go a few miles outside the city to places such as Haraki or Lindos.
Clearly, this is a prime choice for vacationing location. It offers everything a prospective vacationer would need- and should usually be considered the first choice in places to stay. If a traveler should desire a more peaceful atmosphere, then several smaller villages and towns offer great accommodations just a few miles away. Either way, it is likely that many travelers will be coming back to the city to enjoy the festivities and entertainment that the city offers around the clock- not to mention the beautiful scenery.
