Kalithea on Rhodes - Live the beautiful sunset
If you have ever seen a beautiful sunset or deep blue sky in a movie, chances are it looks just like Kalithea does every day. This hot spot in Rhodes is very popular for soothing services, such as spas or romantic getaways. It is also considered one of the best family vacation spots- and with good reason.
Kalithea is one of the more quite locations on Rhodes, and is located on the East coast. It can boast some of the best hotels in all of Rhodes, which makes it prime selection for a vacationing spot. However, many people just come to see the "great view", which is actually what Kalithea means in Greek. Even the 1896 Summer Olympics and Athens 2004 Olympic Games have held meetings and sporting events in this location. This is a rather large municipality- totaling around 100,000 inhabitants.
Many buildings still exist today that hold incredible historical value. For instance, The Municipal Gallery was one of the first dwellings in the city, yet still remains today. Other things such as the Panteion University or Harokopion University are great to visit. If a little more action is desired, the Municipal Stadium has enabled Kalithea to have a soccer team since 1972- and is worth a visit. Finally, the monument in memory of the Pontus Greeks resides in the center of the city- more specifically at Davaki Square and Gardens.
Beaches of Kalithea are incredibly luxurious. In fact, they were designed by the Italians to be steaming hot medicinal springs- although it no longer functions. Palm and pine trees litter the springs, making a fantastic view. Since Kalithea is not far from the City of Rhodes, taking a look at the emerald waters for one’s self has never been easier. Mosaics sport truly marvelous Arabic architecture, which makes the beaches of Kalithea truly unique and worth a visit indeed.
Finally, the hotels in Kalithea are notorious for providing some of the best service in Rhodes. Hotels such as the Nostos Hotel offer a very friendly service, not to mention extremely clean and spotless facilities. World-class cuisines are offered at great prices, and breakfast buffets are available to enjoy while enjoying the incredible sea view. Hotels such as the Nostos remain fairly quiet and free of bustle or activity- giving a vacation a better sense of peace and tranquility. Surely, it will be hard to find a better hotel service in Rhodes that surpasses Kalithea’s.
Kalithea remains to be one of the best romantic getaways, simply because of the great services and beautiful scenery. Kalithea sports a few luxurious springs that are a great treat to enjoy, as well as some educational and historical sites or monuments. This rather large municipality won’t necessarily give travelers a crazy and wild entertainment scene- so other parts of Rhodes are more suited for this act. Clubs, bars, and other forms of partying are less common in Kalithea. However, this is a prime location to hold a honeymoon, anniversary, or wedding- thanks to the tranquility and beauty of Kalithea.
