Haraki on Rhodes

Haraki is a rather small fishing village on the east coast of the island of Rhodes. The small village hosts a few tavernas, bars, and restaurants to accommodate travelers in the holiday seasons. The beautiful bay of Haraki has made swimming and water sports increasingly popular.
Feraclos castle overlooks the village in a highly placed citadel. The view from the citadel enables travelers to see the next major town of Lindos- which is quite a site indeed. The castle was used by ST. John in the effort to defend against the Ottoman Empire. The medieval castle is a real treat to visit- as it offers some great architecture and artifacts that relate the present world to the past. The castle is a must-see location if possible, as the view over the bay is incredible.

Haraki is of course, a fishing village. This makes the restaurants of Haraki some of the best in terms of fresh seafood. Fresh fish, as well as exotic things such as squid are captured and brought back to the village for fresh consumption. Most restaurant owners will keep a menu up with daily prices- as it is often unclear what the next boat can bring. This is exciting for travelers who like to experience the freshest, most unique types of seafood available.

The beach of Haraki has become increasingly popular because of its amazing colors and shades of gold and teal. This has made the beach perfect for sun bathing and other sports such as swimming. Clearly, the older crowd has found this town to be perfect- and the younger crowd might be a little less entertained. The beach allows anyone that needs relaxation to obtain it with ease- as the town is usually fairly quiet. Water sports have begun to liven up the beach a little, with boats and jet skis starting to gain in popularity.

As mentioned before, there is a lack of excitement that youth would perhaps want to engage in. Night clubs and bars don’t exist in great numbers, which makes this town perfect for middle aged and older crowds- or for those who want a little relaxation. In holiday months, the town will pick up in activity, but not a great deal. The exquisite cuisine, economical hotels, fresh seafood, amazing historical background, and fresh waters to swim in makes this location a great destination for the next get away spot.

In conclusion, this town is great for many reasons. The educational background, as well as history and architecture, make this a great learning experience. The town is rather quiet, so relaxation won’t be hard to guarantee. Fresh seafood allows visitors to get access to some of the best cuisine- as it arrives daily and in good numbers. For those who do wish to seek a little entertainment- there are a few bars or nightclubs to take part in. However, older people will reap the benefits of this town more than the younger crowd- as it is for the most part undeveloped and quiet.
